Role Overview
- Position Title: Seasonal US Tax Preparer (Full ‑Time)
- Reports To: Lead Accountant / Managing Partner
- Location: Remote work
We are seeking a detail‑oriented, dependable Seasonal Tax Preparer to assist with preparing and filing individual and business tax returns for our existing client base during the busy tax season. The Seasonal Tax Preparer will work closely with our bookkeeping and accounting team to ensure timely, compliant, and high‑quality tax filings.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Filing
- Prepare and file individual tax returns (Form 1040), including related schedules.
- Prepare and file business tax returns (Schedule C, 1120‑S, 1065, or 1120 depending on client type).
- Identify missing information and communicate with clients to obtain required documentation.
- Review client-provided documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure all returns comply with federal and Texas state tax regulations.
- E‑file returns and confirm successful submission.
Client Communication & Support
- Provide professional, friendly support to clients regarding tax documents, deadlines, and filing requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
- Answer basic tax‑related questions and escalate complex issues to senior staff.
Internal Coordination
- Collaborate with bookkeeping and payroll teams to verify year‑end financial data.
- Maintain accurate notes and status updates in internal systems (e.g., F360).
- Follow established SOPs for tax preparation, review, and filing.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience preparing individual tax returns (1040).
- Familiarity with business tax returns (Schedule C, 1120‑S, 1065, or 1120).
- Strong understanding of federal tax laws and basic Texas requirements.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Drake, ProSeries, or similar).
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently during peak season with tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred
- Prior experience in a CPA firm or tax office.
- Experience working with small businesses.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping or payroll processes.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- PTIN (or ability to obtain one before start date).
Work Schedule
- Seasonal, full‑time from March through May.
- Flexible scheduling available, with increased hours during peak weeks.
- Occasional evenings or Saturdays may be required.
